Tennantite after Enargite from Tsumeb

USD450.00

Description

7.4 x 5.2 x 3.8 cm

156.5 grams

Rare Tsumeb pseudomorph here!Tennantite has replaced Enargite whilst retaining the original mineral’s structure! The largest crystal measures 6.5 cm long! Some damage, but nothing to detract from the seriousness of the piece. I strongly suspect however, that this is actually Tennantite after Enargite, AFTER Azurite! A double-pseudomorph! Upon closer inspection of the sharp, monoclinic crystals, I can’t deny the resemblance to the popular blue mineral. Now, this may be a stretch, but given the abundance of Malachite after Azurite specimens seen from this locality, I’m wondering if it isn’t at least possible that this is actually a tripple-pseudomorph: Tennantite after Enargite after Malachite after Azurite! Wouldn’t that be something? If anything, there’s also a thin coating of Malachite here and there as well! This is simply a killer Tsumeb piece, the likes of which you just don’t see very often… Do NOT pass up on the opportunity to own this specimen!

Please note that the picture shows different views of the same specimen.
