Trinitite parcel from White Sands Missile Range, Socorro Co., New Mexico

USD50.00

Description

2 x 1.7 x .7 cm

10.3 grams

Trinitite parcel – formed from the tremendous heat of the first artificial nuclear detonation in history! The sand within a 50 yard radius surrounding the detonation site was almost instantaneously super-heated and fused into a foamy green glass seen here. This may be a man-made “mineral”, but of historical importance and definitely interesting. Despite being the rock snob that I am, even I have a piece in my personal collection!
