Here’s a nice example of what is quickly becoming a contemporary classic; intense blue Flourite crystals coating brightly contrasting white Quartz crystals that are themselves coating a single Smoky Quartz crystal, from the prolific Huanggang Mines of Inner Mongolia! Dozens of these rich blue Fluorite octahedrons with complex, rounded form are scattered across a forest of individual milky white Quartz crystals that are again perched on an individual Smoky Quartz point – in this specimen. From 2013 workings at the Mines. Huanggang material may be cheap now, but will not be the case down the road…The Huanggang Mines have produced an attractive selection of mineral combinations from the skarn-type body that the mines are exploiting, but these attention-getting blue Fluorites on Quartz specimens are easily some of the best and most recognizable material found so far. These quickly sell, if not sell out entirely, at every show where I have seen them available. I am lucky to have nabbed a few pieces, but I myself am always on the lookout for more. These will no doubt one day become true classics of the mineral world, with the price tags to match!

Please note that the picture shows different views of the same specimen.
