Complex metallic Cuprite crystals on matrix from the Milpillas Mine. The mine, which is already world famous for the beautiful Azurite specimens found there, produced striking Cuprite specimens with good cherry-red color under extreme back-lighting sporadically in 2013 and 2014. Quality examples are rare from this locale, given the few instances of discovery at the mine. Crystals rarely exceed 1 cm, though most vary from octahedral to cubic structure. Gorgeous, rare material from a very important locality. The Milpillas mine will surely go down in history as one of the best Azurite localities in the world, if not THE best, and will always be remembered just as well for these less common Cuprites. Don’t miss out on this nice example! Far better in person…
