Terminated and well formed slender Mimetite crystals with a vibrant yellow color on a contrasting matrix of Quartz crystals! What’s interesting about Tsumeb is that a few common minerals such as Quartz, Galena, Pyrite, and a few others are actually quite uncommon at the mine! Mimetite itself is often an accompanying mineral and not really the main show, save for at a few localities. One of the richest ore bodies in the world, the Tsumeb Mine produced millions of tons of metallic ores as well as numerous varieties of minerals, in all sorts of combinations! Common minerals uncommon from Tsumeb are some of the main species collectors go for from this locale. This is a keeper for sure!
