UV reactive Calcite on Quartz from Huanggang Mines, Inner Mongolia
USD100.00
Here’s a very cool specimen featuring a single robust Quartz crystal wearing a shroud of disk shaped Calcite crystals in a tight cluster that looks unassuming at first, but are in fact rich in manganese which is why the piece reacts so strongly under long wave ultraviolet light, as seen in the right image! Just look at that orangey pink color (more pink in person)! Amazing! That one spot if representative of the entire Calcite cluster… It ALL lights up! The Huanggang Mines have produced an attractive selection of mineral combinations from the skarn-type body that the mines are exploiting which may be cheap now, but will not be the case down the road..
