Martian Meteorite sample from Zagora, Morocco

NWA 7397 analyzed Martian meteorite found in Morocco in 2012. But how is it that a piece of Mars was found here on Earth, you may ask. Well, meteor impacts on Mars can launch rocks into space, some of which find themselves caught in Earth’s gravity well and fall to the surface as meteorites, from Mars originally. But how do we KNOW this is a piece of Mars? We have sent probes to Mars before and analyzed pounds of Martian rocks at the surface. The data from our findings is used as a comparison. Not a big sample by any stretch of the imagination, but this is is the real deal!
