Now here’s a fossil specimen for everyone! Calcite crystals have completely replaced the interior “meat” of a clam – with sharp, gemmy yellow crystals – while the outer shell itself is solid Calcite. A bit of matrix is present which adds a nice bit of contrast to the piece. Don’t pass this one up!
